  High Light Transmittance Tempered Solar Glass Low Iron Textured Photovoltaic Glass For Solar Panels

 

  Tempered solar glass, also known as low-iron figured glass, low-iron rolled glass, or low-iron textured glass, is manufactured via a continuous roll-impression process. Boasting excellent properties—including high solar transmittance, low absorbance, low reflectance, and low iron content—low-iron patterned glass serves as the ideal encapsulation material for solar thermal and photovoltaic modules.

  Low-iron patterned tempered glass is produced by subjecting low-iron patterned glass to tempering furnace processing. This treatment enhances the glass’s strength, improving its resistance to impact, mechanical loads, and thermal stress-induced breakage. The tempering process involves heating annealed glass to approximately 621°C (1,150°F) followed by rapid cooling. This cooling step, known as quenching, uses precisely controlled airflow to ensure uniform and simultaneous cooling of all glass surfaces.

  Compared to annealed glass of the same thickness and specifications, tempered solar glass offers roughly four times the strength. When broken, it fractures into small, granular fragments—greatly reducing the risk of serious injury compared to annealed glass.
