Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) Photovoltaic Curtain Wall Project of a Comprehensive Laboratory Building in Anhui

2025-11-10

- Project Overview: It is a Class II high-rise civil building with 9 above-ground floors and a height of 40.85m. The east and south facades adopt CdTe thin-film photovoltaic curtain walls, with a total installed capacity of 35.72kWp, operating under the mode of "self-consumption with surplus power fed into the grid".
- Core Requirements: To balance building lighting, facade aesthetics and power generation functions, while meeting the safety performance requirements of the curtain wall such as heat insulation and wind load resistance.
- Solutions: Standard 1200mm×800mm CdTe modules are selected, with a 20% film removal rate design to ensure qualified visible light transmittance; the curtain wall adopts an insulated laminated structure of "5mm tempered ultra-clear glass + PVB interlayer + CdTe glass + air layer", with vertical 3.4m and horizontal 1.2m grids adapting to the building modulus.
- Implementation Effects: The 26.6kWp modules on the south facade and 9.12kWp modules on the east facade operate stably. The annual power generation can meet 15% of the laboratory building's electricity demand, and the carbon dioxide emission reduction exceeds 1,000 tons during the full life cycle.
- Technical Highlights: The side junction box design hides cables, and the exposed frame structure balances safety and aesthetics; the multi-channel MPPT inverter ensures power generation efficiency, and the concealed installation of cable trays improves the overall integrity of the building.
